03Technical description

30/70 tin solder is an ASTM B32 Sn30 tin-lead alloy formulated for soft soldering work where a wide pasty range and good manual bead control are needed. It is used in radiator repair, sheet metal work, bodywork, sealing galvanized sheet and traditional plumbing not intended for potable water. Compared with 40/60 or 50/50, it contains less tin and more lead, making it more suitable when the operator needs to fill, shape or even out the joint before it solidifies. It must not be selected for drinking-water networks or projects requiring lead-free material; in those cases, tin-copper, tin-silver or tin-antimony alternatives under ASTM B32 should be reviewed.

Selection guide

  • Choose 30/70 when filling capacity and manual finishing are more important than fast fluidity.
  • For fine electronics, prefer a eutectic alloy such as 63/37.
  • For potable water or food, request a lead-free alloy compatible with the project specification.
  • Confirm whether bar, spool or special packaging is required before quoting.

Use recommendations

  • Clean rust, grease, paint and moisture before applying flux.
  • Heat the base part uniformly; do not melt the solder only with the direct flame.
  • Use flux compatible with copper, brass, tinned steel or galvanized sheet.
  • Remove flux residues after finishing to reduce the risk of localized corrosion.

04Frequently asked questions

What is the price of 30/70 tin solder?

The price depends on packaging, quantity and lot availability. Send the required kilograms and delivery city via WhatsApp for a quote.

How is 30/70 solder different from 40/60?

30/70 has more lead and a more pasty behavior for filling and shaping; 40/60 flows better and is often used as a general option for sheet and bodywork.

How is it installed or applied correctly?

Clean the base metal, apply flux, heat the joint evenly and feed the solder when the part has enough temperature to wet the surface.

Is it suitable for potable water piping?

It is not the recommended selection because it contains lead. For drinking water, a lead-free alloy and the applicable technical specification must be reviewed.

Does the reference correspond to ASTM B32?

Yes. The lot product is identified as ASTM B32 Sn30, a tin-lead soft solder alloy classification.

Does it come in bar or spool?

The lot unit is kilogram or packaging according to product. SoldaForce confirms availability of bar, spool or other packaging at quotation time.
