30/70 tin solder is an ASTM B32 Sn30 tin-lead alloy formulated for soft soldering work where a wide pasty range and good manual bead control are needed. It is used in radiator repair, sheet metal work, bodywork, sealing galvanized sheet and traditional plumbing not intended for potable water. Compared with 40/60 or 50/50, it contains less tin and more lead, making it more suitable when the operator needs to fill, shape or even out the joint before it solidifies. It must not be selected for drinking-water networks or projects requiring lead-free material; in those cases, tin-copper, tin-silver or tin-antimony alternatives under ASTM B32 should be reviewed.

30/70 has more lead and a more pasty behavior for filling and shaping; 40/60 flows better and is often used as a general option for sheet and bodywork.
Clean the base metal, apply flux, heat the joint evenly and feed the solder when the part has enough temperature to wet the surface.
It is not the recommended selection because it contains lead. For drinking water, a lead-free alloy and the applicable technical specification must be reviewed.
