ER309L Dissimilar TIG Filler Rod

The Stanvac ER309L dissimilar TIG filler rod is a stainless filler metal for the GTAW/TIG process, classified as AWS A5.9 ER309L. It is selected for jobs where the welder needs to join stainless steel with carbon steel, make transitions between materials or repair mixed assemblies. It is a useful reference in plant maintenance, support fabrication, equipment adaptations and industrial erection where not all components are the same grade. The key difference versus Stanvac ER308L is the application: ER308L is used for similar stainless steels such as 304/304L, while ER309L is intended for dissimilar joints and better control of mixing with carbon steel.

• Use Stanvac ER309L for dissimilar stainless-carbon steel joining.
• Choose Stanvac ER308L if the joint is 304/304L stainless against similar stainless.
