West Arco TIG Inox 309L

The West Arco TIG Inox 309L is a stainless filler rod for GTAW/TIG welding, classified as AWS A5.9 ER309L. It is used mainly when the application requires joining stainless steel with compatible carbon steel, making transitions or repairing mixed assemblies in industrial maintenance. This selection is common in supports, structures, equipment adaptations and fabrication where the joint is not similar stainless. Compared with West Arco TIG Inox 308L, the difference is the type of joint: 308L is intended for 304/304L stainless steel against similar stainless, while 309L is selected for dissimilar joints and higher dilution conditions.

Selection guide

• Use TIG Inox 309L for dissimilar stainless-carbon steel joining.
• Select TIG Inox 308L when both sides are similar 304/304L stainless.
• Review service, corrosion and procedure before welding critical parts.
• Request quantity by kilo or available packaging according to erection consumption.

Use recommendations

• Clean the carbon steel until rust, paint and grease are removed from the joint area.
• Avoid contaminating stainless steel with tools used on common steel.
• Control sequence, dilution and heat input during the TIG process.
• Physically separate 309L from 308L in storage and at the work front.
