ER308L Stainless TIG Filler Rod

The Stanvac ER308L stainless TIG filler rod is a filler for GTAW/TIG welding of stainless steel, identified under AWS A5.9 ER308L. It is used in fabrication, repair and maintenance of 304 and 304L stainless parts, especially when a controlled bead, good appearance and compatibility with similar austenitic steels are required. It is a practical option for shops, plant maintenance, stainless structures, process equipment and jobs where filler selection must be clear by brand and classification. Compared with Stanvac ER309L, this reference is not intended as the first alternative for joining stainless steel with carbon steel; ER308L corresponds to work on similar stainless steels.

Selection guide

• Select Stanvac ER308L for 304/304L stainless joints or compatible equivalents.
• Validate whether the service environment requires another stainless grade before approving purchase.
• Use ER309L when the joint is dissimilar between stainless steel and carbon steel.
• Define quantity by kilo or available packaging according to project consumption.

Use recommendations

• Remove surface contamination and mark tools exclusively for stainless steel.
• Avoid touching the clean area with gloves contaminated by grease or ferrous particles.
